Based on the amount of what I made for my first packet I assumed that one was going to be spring. Full of new growth after a period of visual dormancy I was excited to see what summer (the second packet was going to bring).
But in reality, I didn’t explore the physical realm as much as I thought I was going to. Life flipped around and the pendulum swung. I did my best with what I could. But I figured for certain I’d be able to get back on track.
Once again, I condemend myself to the digital realm in an attempt to stay on track while my daily life tried to reach the homeostasis it once experienced.
I’ve come to realize that that first packet may have actually been summer. I sowed the seeds I planted in my first semester at VCFA, and I reaped the bounty as far as I could.
As the harvest died down my second packet became the symbolic autumn. A period of slowing down and adjusting.
This packet, the creative dormancy is winter. A weathering of sorts in order to just survive and make it through to the other side. But its not a period without pockets of joy, gratuity, and anticipation for better times.
I look forward to see what my last packet has in store for me. Whether or not my life experiences balance once again, I’m eager to break free from the constraints of the digital world in favor of making with my hands once more.
This isn’t to say I’m anti-digital or anti-technology. I just want to be pro-human. Pro-oddity. Pro-enjoying things. I want to find balance between the screen and the page.
